Fuck, yeah! [Wade grins, slapping the table.] That's the spirit, Fraser! Keep this up and you might even unbutton a third button on that shirt!

Let's not get carried away, here.

[ This is clearly a joke, and not even a deadpan one. He actually allows his amusement to show on his face. ]

Of course. How silly of me. I'm such a silly goose! [He tsks himself, pleased to see he's made Benton smile.] I don't know what I was thinking suggesting so absurd an idea.

[He shifts back and gets comfortable in the booth.] I seem to recall something about dancing after this? Hope you're prepared, I can tango like nobody's business.

[ He perks up further at the mention of dancing. ]

You tango? You're going to have to teach me. Ray started to, but we hadn't gotten very far.

Since it benefits the plot, yes! Of course, I tango! [Wade grins back, pleased that he'd excited about this idea.]

The plot...?

[ What plot!! ]

Uhh... gotcha? [He smiles tentatively and with raised eyebrows. Then reaches a hand out to touch a finger to Benton's nose.] Boop.

This is totally real. Not like that princess/knight thing at all.

[Firm nod. Very serious.]

... honestly, I have no intention of getting too wound up about the nature of Duplicity and its place in reality. It's an interesting question, but I'm just not equipped to explore it in any depth. I shall just have to stick to cogito ergo sum and enjoy the dance lesson.

[ And, since Wade put his hand out, Fraser is going to catch at his fingers, so they can hold hands across the table. ]

Yeah, you do that cog er sum thing. [He agrees.] You won't regret it. I'm a very good dancer.

[He's a really good fighter and both required similar skills. Also, he'd always been a showman. Not the GREATEST Showman, technically. Fucking Jackman. But a pretty dang good one! Wolverine thinking he's so-- Wade's pulled from his errant thoughts when Benton takes his hand to hold, and they quiet down for a moment, leaving him fully present and in that moment.]

Well, it's not really "putting up with" you when I'm thoroughly enjoying your company, now, is it?

[ He squeezes Wade's fingers. ]

Oh. [That shuts him up for a second. Now he just hopes he doesn't do something in the future to jeopardize that. It's a little terrifying.

Still, he does squeeze those fingers back.] I suppose it's not.

There you are, then.

[ After a moment of hesitation, he lifts Wade's hand to his lips and lightly kisses his fingertips. ]

[Wade watches, fascinated at Benton's mouth pressed against his fingers. He gulps a little bit because it doesn't take much to get him going so he's already growing aroused. He shifts awkwardly in his spot trying to adjust himself as discreetly as he can.]

You're doing pretty well at this dating thing so far.

[understood]

[ That startles a surprised laugh out of him. ]

Really...?

[ There's a little-kid shyness about the question, like he wants to believe it and can't, quite. ]

I think so! I don't have a lot of first dates to go by... but you've got my seal of approval and we've barely even started yet!

[Wade sees that look on Benton's face. He leans right over the table suddenly to give him a peck on the lips] You're even purer than Colossus, back home. Didn't think that was possible.

[understood]

[ The kiss makes him blush, but he looks very pleased anyway. ]

Who's Colossus?

[ He's genuinely curious. ]

He's an X-man. This superhero team back home. Pretty much the only one who ever gave me a chance. NTW and Yukio started talking to me too, but he was the first to give a shit. He's a Russian mutant, super tall, metal. Pretty decent CGI. Great ass. I got him to curse once!

He sounds like a good friend. Sorry, by "metal," do you mean that he's actually made of metal, or is this "lingo" type terminology for which I don't understand the connotations?

[ He does actual air quotes with his fingers when he says "lingo". ]

As in metal. Every part of him. All the way down to the dick. Not that I've seen it. Have felt it though... [He looks off wistful for a moment. He'll be back in a second.]

Piotr can look normal too, he just never does around me. Maybe because he knows I like it. [That's what Wade is telling himself, anyway.]

Interesting. I take it Colossus is actually his call sign...?

[ It's so easy for a statement like, "Interesting," to sound condescending, but it doesn't from Fraser. Maybe because he actually sounds interested, and not in a skeevy way. ]

Call sign. Mutant name. Superhero name. Same thing. But yes. And he lives up to it. He's a very large man. And strong.

[And now Wade is starting to miss him. And the rest of his F-word.]

I wish I could meet him.

... I mean, not in the sense that I wish he would be kidnapped to Duplicity, of course. You know.

I know. [As much as he misses people from back home, he doesn't actually want them here. Although he would be relieved in a way, if they were... selfishly.]

I'm sure you two would get along. I'd say-- like a house on fire, but I'm sure you're both sticklers for fire safety so that'd never happen.

[ Although Fraser doesn't laugh, he ducks his head and smiles in a way that is almost as good. ]

You may be right about that. Although I did have an apartment burn down, once. But that was the fault of a performance arsonist, and I was out of town at the time, so really, I hardly think I can be held responsible.
