[ Fraser sighs into it a little shakily and pulls Andy close. ]

[ Andy pulls him closer, still kissing him. ]

[ After a moment, he breaks the kiss, leaning their foreheads together. ]

Something— happened. With Huaisang.

[ He pets Ben's hair. ]

You wanna tell me about it?

I think I ought to, if we're going to, ah, extend that invitation.

[scarrystories]

You wanna sit down for it?

[ He has no idea of what to expect here. ]

[understood]

I don't think it will be particularly long in the telling.

[ Besides, if he goes back to washing dishes he doesn't have to look at Andy. Win/win. ]

All right, I'm all ears.

Well... remember the library promotion, with the immersive reading experience?

[scarrystories]

I did tell you that I read all the books, didn't I?

[scarrystories]

You did, yeah.

As you can probably guess, I encountered Huaisang in one of them.

[ He's going over to load up the dishwasher. ]

I figured, yeah.

[ He's just gonna stare at Ben's back and give him time to actually say whatever it is he wants to say. ]

And, as I imagine you're aware, they all contained, ah, well... rather explicit scenarios.

Yes, dear. I know your character had sex with his character in the book.

[understood]

Right. Yes. Well.

... as it happens, my character in the book was a scientist whose spaceship crashed on an alien planet, and Huaisang was cast in the role of another sapient species, who captured the scientist, for... questionable purposes.

[scarrystories]

[ Finally he has a better idea of where this is going. ]

Okay, so is the problem the non-consensual aspect of the sex, or that it likely involved weird tentacles?

[understood]

More the former. It wasn't—I certainly don't blame him in the least. And, while it was a disturbing experience, I don't feel unduly upset by it. It's just that we haven't really discussed it.

Ben, I think this needs to be a longer conversation than you want it to be.

[understood]

[ Ben is ladling soup into containers for storage. ]

I don't see why.

[scarrystories]

[ Andy takes his hand. ]

That can wait. Come on.

[understood]

Andy...?

[ He puts down the ladle, at least, not resisting. ]

[scarrystories]

I know you don't think you're upset, but I'd like to hear what happened in the story.

[ Andy's taking him to the living room so they can sit down and actually look at each other. ]

[understood]

It's a little embarrassing, Andy... and it doesn't seem fair to tell you all the details when I haven't asked him if he'd like to keep it private...

[ But that doesn't mean he has a problem holding Andy's hand and sitting on the couch with him. ]
